| Candidate Profile Job Description:
1. UNIX Ongoing support SA's are required to monitor Sun Solaris, Linux servers and investigate alerts regarding performance, monitor backups, troubleshoot, open calls with vendors and watch ticket Q to meet Level of Effort for our internal customers.
2. Will be responsible to connect both Linux and SUN consoles to servers in production and development environments when required.
3. Ability to follow procedures in a tightly run Change Control system and communicate to peers and upper management. This position has high visibility and requires a professional demeanor.
4. The team supports 24x7 production and working shifts and a weekend day is required.
Required Skills/ Domain Knowledge :
1. Is comfortable with most aspects of UNIX systems administration; for example, understands concepts and configuration of clustering, mail systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software. Understands job control, soft and hard links, distinctions between the kernel and the shell. (Anything in Hp UNIX is a plus point)
2. A solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system - Sun Solaris (sun Solaris 8. 0, 9. 0 and 10) and Linux (Red Hat or SuSE). Understands paging and swapping, performance monitoring, kernel tuning, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts ("in ode", "super block").
3. Familiarity with fundamental networking/ distributed computing environment concepts; can configure NFS, VxVM, Jump Start Solaris, can use NFS, nslookup or dig to check information in the DNS, understands basic routing concepts. Understand the Linux kernel and tunring.
4. Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (ksh, Tk, Perl)
Ability to do minimal debugging and work with Infrastructure teams.
5. Experience in clustering technologies - Sun Clusters, VCS (verities cluster servers)
6. Must have experience in Disk Suite, ZFS and Storage Foundation Suite. (exposure to HP Unix is an added advantage)
