Our client develops software that filters and monitors Internet activity, specifically http, messenger, and file sharing. Key to their product offering is their method for categorizing in near real time, URLs never seen before by the system. With this technology, they are able to continuously, automatically update their database which categorizes URL traffic.

This Categorization Service is offered to their customers in three ways: as a local client filter on the pc, as an enterprise filter at an institutional gateway or at an ISP, or through a API for those wishing to develop their own filter.

The company is based in Canada (near Toronto) and has a wholly-owned division in Chennai focusing on Quality Assurance. This position is based in Chennai. Chennai office hours are afternoon/ evenings to coincide with mornings in Canada.

Our client is looking to add to its Chennai office a person to test and assist in resolving issues that involve low level operating system or network events. This position is NOT to perform end user testing but is to test and analyze the interaction of our software with the operating system, local network and appliances, and client to server communications.

Recent experience with software development (C and C++) involving Internet/ network protocol is important. That is a C or C++ developer who has worked on Internet or network communications based applications and who is experienced with the low level Internet protocols and Windows application development.

Experience with either Windows client applications or Linux-based server side applications is also important. Experience with Windows Active Directory, LDAP, proxy servers, firewalls, and Radius servers would be a benefit. The candidate must have practical, hands-on experience and be able to integrate quickly with an established Canadian based team of software developers.

This is not a software development position; however our ideal candidate will have software development abilities which they can use to increase the technical depth of our testing in Chennai. A good network engineer or developer open to work in a testing/ trouble shooting role, would be ideal.

This is a full time position. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and initiative. Accent neutral spoken English is essential, since this role involves constant interaction with Canadian developers.
