I am heading the Process Engineering Department for following functions -
Process Engineering New Products process, BOM, Routing, Jigs and Fixtures, Improvement in the existing process and components, Work instructions, Time study, Production facilities
Project Support Identify the facilities, Machines, tools for Process upgrade and improvement, Justification, ordering and Implementation
ECR ECN - Activity to document the changes with consensus of all concerned. Update BOMs and drawings accordingly
Design support -Part modifications, Trials for alternatives, Prototyping, Drawing changes

Nov2007- May 2009- As a Manager Engineering Department in Samsonite South Asia Pvt ltd..

Value Engineering-Generation of cost optimization projects like Modifications in Existing designs for cost saving, alternative materials Process simplifications etc and tracking the activities unto implementation
Coordination with the concerned Departments for the implementations of the Various Projects
CAPEX- Budgeting for Capital Expenditure
Asset management-creation of Authorization for Expenditure, Proposal and approvals for assets, Tools jigs fixtures, annual planning etc
Yield calculation and tracking the corrective and preventive actions for the causes effecting the yield
BOM-creation and updates,
ECR/ ECN-Generation of ECR for changes due to quality, Cost reduction, Design change etc. Evaluation of Financial impact due to change, Meeting with concerned dept head, Conclude DOI and convert ECR to ECN, Circulation of ECN to all concern,

Product Engineering-

Developing plans/ schedules, arranging for resources and overseeing all activities to ensure timely completion of projects as per budgeted parameters.
New Model Launch for mass production
Verification and Validation of Design for Functionality, Quality and Productivity.

Key achievements are successful launch of new Colour TV and LCD TV models during World Cup Cricket series in 2007. Also achieved significant Cost reductions on different projects (upto 50 % in raw material price) by applying Value Engg Concepts thereby saving Rs. 12 plus Crore for the organisation.

Design and Development

Interfacing with Marketing for identifying specifications towards design of TV parts, Colour TV sets, jigs & fixtures etc. and generating BOM.
Briefing Design teams on products specifications & supervising design generation & models using Pro/ E, AutoCAD 2000, etc. as well as guiding vendors in development of spare parts.
Generating samples and securing approvals for newly developed models.
Developing/ modifying Colour TV models & parts like specially designed TV stands, Back/ Front Cabinets, Operating knobs, Packaging etc. across various assignments.
Europe-Project Coordination: Making Design Changes in the Colour TV models to be launched in Europe, Providing necessary Technical support, Bill of Material, packaging Design. Mould shipment planning.

Coordinated Europe Project on Colour TV manufacturing as a result of VIL acquiring Picture tubes plant in Italy. Also reviewed and approved the new designs from China Mould Manufacturers. Had Visited and worked in China for the purpose in May 2007
Successfully designed and launched the 20LCD cabinet, stands for Premium CTV models ensured on time Design and developments through regular meetings and follow-ups.
