CIL-DBU was acquired in 1967 with the objective of providing products, packages, services and solutions for uptime of Cummins equipments. It has since been engaged in the business of sale of engines and providing after-market support to customers in India, Nepal and Bhutan. Over the years, the business has grown from strength to strength, and has successfully established itself as a 'Dependable' after-sales service support arm of Cummins.

Role and Responsibilities:

Inspection/ Testing of electronic controllers and related electronic parts. Registration of all service tools and looking after all Engine down Orders (parts orders) related to electronic parts. Planning (Inventory) of electronics parts and provide back hand support to the field for all electronic part related issues.

Team member of a SIX SIGMA - DMAIC Project on SALVAGE OF ELECTRONIC PARTS.
Responsible for all Electronic activities.
Testing of Electronic Controllers and related parts.
Calibrations of Controllers that are fitted to GENSETs.
To look after Engine down Orders related to electronic parts.
Analysis of MTTR (maximum time to restore engine) v/ s FIR (Field investigation report) to minimize replacement of whole controller replacement.
Designing of compact and low cost simulators from suppliers to test electronic controllers efficiently.
Product modification and conducting field trials.
Responsible for registration of all service tools and softwares.
Supporting field related to electronic parts.
Parts planning and management of electronic parts.
Taking part in teleconference with all G-OEMs and to give solution to issues that are pending.

Achievement:
Reduction in failures on field by reducing part replacements resulting in reduction in salvage cost for within warranty products.
